As the Chief Health Care Compliance and Privacy Officer, at New York City Fire Department (FDNY), she oversees the day-to-day operations of compliance and privacy programs, and she provides guidance and support to both clinical and administrative personnel on compliance and privacy matters. 

Before joining FDNY, Sofya served as Director of Compliance at a healthcare-focused nonprofit, bringing extensive knowledge and leadership in safeguarding organizational integrity and ensuring regulatory compliance. 

Sofya began her career as a medical malpractice attorney, representing physicians, hospitals, and healthcare organizations. 

Throughout her legal career, she has developed a deep expertise in navigating complex healthcare regulations, managing investigations, and leading compliance initiatives that safeguard organizational integrity and privacy.
