Tom Hardin
From 2008 to 2012, Tom Hardin — a little-known hedge fund analyst based in New York City — quietly assisted FBI agents in uncovering how insider trading occurred within the financial services industry.
As the youngest professional later implicated in the operation and known by his undercover codename "Tipper X," Tom wore a covert body wire to help the FBI build cases against major figures, leading to the largest Wall Street enforcement sweep in a generation.
In 2016, he was invited by the FBI to share his story with their rookie agents. Today, Tom is a global keynote speaker, corporate trainer, and board advisor on behavioral ethics, compliance, and organizational conduct and culture risk.
Through intense self-reflection, he took full responsibility for his early career actions, transformed his life, and continues an ongoing journey into understanding human behavior and the forces that drive poor decision-making.
His life story is the subject of his forthcoming book, Wired on Wall Street, scheduled for release through Wiley in 2026.
